Mama: Isaiah, you need to eat something besides applesauce. Do you want to try some meatloaf or macaroni and cheese?

Isaiah: Um...suppose we change the subject. Let's tell scary stories.

M: OK, go ahead.

I: You first.

M: It was your idea.

I: Yes, but I wanted to give you the honor.

(Epilogue: I told "The Golden Arm." Isaiah pronounced it "too scary." He tried the meatloaf and found it was bearable enough to eat a few bites.)
