You never know; it could be the right answer.
After reading Isaiah and Bernadette a picture book about Saint Columcille, ancient Irish monk and scribe...
M: Where did Columcille learn to read and write?
B: Omaha?

What were those scientists thinking?
After lunch in the park, Isaiah invites me to go to the pool with him, Grandma, and Bernadette.
M: No, sweetie. I need to take Kateri home for her nap.
I: But don't you think the baby needs a good soaking?
M (laughing): Well, the baby actually lives in liquid, so you're right. But it's not just water. There's more to it than that.
I: What's it called?
M: It's called amniotic fluid.
I (grimacing): That sounds like a disease.

Picture this.
Isaiah's way of telling me his baby sister had escaped: "When I popped the door open like a cork, she just sprang forward like a snake striking at a mongoose."

Sky
I ask Kateri if she can touch the moon. She reaches. We then spend several minutes trying, without success, to grab it.
The things they say
Isaiah (at dinner with Pete and Magda): "I really must teach Magda to speak proper English."
Bernadette (after listening to Isaiah's protestations that he had kicked her twice in a row by accident and would NEVER kick her on purpose): "Weeell...It's a matter of opinion if you would do that or not. But you have to be careful where you put your feet!"

Jam session
Epilogue: The first few days Pete and Magda were here, Kateri called Pete "Paw." But this morning, when she heard this video playing, she exclaimed, "Pee-er!"
